Fernando is one of the Champions in Paladins.

Story[edit | edit source]

It takes a special kind of man to appoint his own Knighthood, and Fernando is that man. Hailing from the golden cliffs of Sun Spire, Fernando travels to Crosswind Hold to spread word of his fame and glory. If there's a damsel in distress, Fernando is there.

Summary[edit | edit source]

Fernando is a formidable Front Line champion thanks to his massive Health and his Shield, which provides cover against enemy fire for himself and allies behind him. He carries a Flame Lance which acts much like a flamethrower, projecting a stream of fire infront of him. He is also able to dash forward a short distance, which allows him to quickly reposition himself. His ultimate ability, Immortal, allows him and nearby allies to be immune to death for a duration.

Flame Lance

Area Damage

A short range flamethrower that deals 35 damage per hit every .1s and applies a Damage Over Time effect for 200 damage over 2s. The Flame Lance cannot be manually reloaded and instead recharges when not being used.

  • Gains 0.4% ultimate charge per damage tick of Flame Lance. Maximum of 12% ultimate charge if you fire your weapon on full blast until it runs out of fuel.
  • The damage over time effect appears to add 0.4% ultimate charge per tick, for a maximum of 2% overall.
  • Has a range of 30ft.
  • Weapon can actually be reloaded in the usual way, but this reaload only happens automatically when Fernando is out of ammo.
  • Reload time is 2s.
  • As this is a reload, it is affected by reload speed increases, like Deft Hands item.
  • Can be fired for 5s straight before it overheats.
  • There is a 0.5s delay before it beings to recharge, and it takes 1s for it to fully recharge.
  • Incurs a 50% movement speed reduction while firing.

  • It can last for up to 10s.
  • Has its cooldown reduced based on percentage of health left when it ends; more health left means faster cooldown. Minimum cooldown possible is 9 seconds at full health, and it appears to be scaling linearly.
  • Can be cancelled early by re-activating the skill, using Fireball or Immortal, and by emoting.

  • Fernando's God of War skins are a reference to Ares from SMITE, another game developed by Hi-Rez Studios.
    • As a cross-promotion, those who purchased the Paladins Founder's Pack not only received the God of War skins for Fernando, but also a Fernando skin for Ares in SMITE, complete with custom animations, particle effects, and voice.
