Champion Ying Icon.png New Champion - Ying, The Blossom

WeaponAttack Ying Icon.png Weapon - Illusory Mirror

Fires a continuous beam for a short period, and then has a refire time before the beam can be channeled again.

Ability Illusion.png Ability 1 - Illusion

Create a stationary illusion that fights nearby enemies.

Ability Dimensional Link.png Ability 2 - Dimensional Link

Ying swaps locations with the furthest illusion, and Ying may continue to do so for 4s. If no illusions are deployed, Dimensional Link will teleport Ying to the location of the last active Illusion.

Ability Shatter.png Secondary Fire - Shatter

Trigger a Shatter for all active Illusions, causing them to move towards the nearest enemy target exploding after a 2.5s delay.

Ability Illusory Rift.png Ultimate - Illusory Rift

Spawn an illusory prism on every enemy player on the map, that Confuses and reveals enemies upon hitting them. Confuses enemies for 2s upon activation, and illusory prisms can be Shattered or used with Dimensional Link.

General

  • Champion Purchasing
  • Champions must now be purchased in order to be played. Champions cost 2500 Gold or 200 Crystals to purchase.
  • All current beta players as of patch CB20 will be given all current champions up to Ying.
  • The Founder's Pack includes the Champion Pack which grants all current and future Champions.
  • The following five Champions will be always available to new Paladins players: Fernando, Barik, Ruckus, Cassie, and Pip.
  • Weapon Skins
  • You may now specify which Champion you'd like to craft a Weapon Skin for.
  • There is no longer a limit on your Account level, so you may now level infinitely. You will still earn a Radiant Chest each time you level up.
  • The in-game scoreboard has been updated.
  • Updated art for Capture points.
  • Fixed an issue where spam protection would sometimes not work on VGS cues.

Maps

  • Removed submerged pits near payload destination on the Defender side.
  • Added more cover on the Defender side of the map and expanded play space between first and second checkpoint.

Gameplay

  • The Respawn Beacon has been removed and is now a Active Card.
  • All maps now have forward spawning for various attack phases.
  • Siege Engine
  • Now deals 2.5x damage to Shields and player deployables in their shot path.
  • No longer able to deal the final blow to the Vault. A player must get the last shot to finish a game of Siege.
  • Reduced the damage it deals to the Vault to a flat 100 damage per shot.
  • Reduced the amount of healing HP Drops provide from 15 → 10% of your maximum Health. They still provide a flat 300 Health.
  • Added a ceiling limit for Pip's Weightless and Ruckus' Hover to prevent it from getting stuck as often.
  • Fixed a few issues where the camera would pop when using certain abilities.
  • Fixed self damage scaling on some cards.
  • Setting a target on fire no longer reveals them.
  • Fixed an issue with killcam where the team coloring would be reversed.

  • Movement Abilities no longer provide 1s of Crowd Control Immunity. They do still cleanse all Crowd Control effects on use.

Cards - Balance/Updates/Fixes

New Card System

  • The card system has been reworked.
  • Card rarities have been reduced down to four by removing Uncommon.
  • Cards no longer rank up in match. Instead, each rank of a card has now been split into four individual cards representing the strength of each rank. Each card rank is equal to the four rarities (Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary) and now has a point cost required in order to be used in a deck (1, 2, 3, and 4). All decks must have five cards but have a maximum point value of 12. The maximum point value does not need to be met for a deck to be used.
  • Example:
  • Bunker is a Barik card that increases the Health of his ability Barricade by +1000/2000/3000/4000 depending on its rank. In the new system Bunker is now split into four cards with individual rarities and point values:
  • Bunker I +1000 Health - Common - Costs 1 point to use in a deck.
  • Bunker II +2000 Health - Rare - Costs 2 points to use in a deck.
  • Bunker III +3000 Health - Epic - Costs 3 points to use in a deck.
  • Bunker IV +4000 Health - Legendary - Costs 4 points to use in a deck.
  • Legendary cards no longer have a restriction on how many you can use in a deck, other than the point limit preventing you from using too many.
  • Now that decks have a maximum point value of 12, players can mix and match cards and allocate points where they feel their build is strongest. Example five card Barik deck that costs 12 points:
  • Mega Turret IV (4 Points) - Your Turret now fires heat-seeking missiles.
  • Double Time II (2 Points) - You may now have 2 Turrets and reduce Turret's Cooldown.
  • Forged Alloy III (3 Points) - You increase the Health of your turrets
  • Combat Repair II (2 Points) - You heal your Turrets when you are near to them.
  • Bunker I (1 Point) - You increase the Health of your Barricade.
  • Players now have eight deck selections available per Champion:
  • One 12 point Shared deck has been given to all accounts and will always be available. This is a basic Starter Deck, and includes a new Shared card that provides a damage increase to your weapon attacks.
  • Three 12 point pre-built template decks have also been added by default. These are popular effective builds for each Champion with a short description of how the build works. These will always be available and cannot be changed. If Players do not own the cards in these decks, as you earn cards that fit the build they will automatically fill in the slots, even if they are a lower rank. The template builds will tell you which rank of a card is optimal, but the builds are usable once you have all five of the cards at rank 1.
  • Four custom deck slots that can be modified.

*NEW* Active Cards

Please Note: CB20 will not be shipping with Active Cards as we would like to polish them before implementing.

Active Cards are a new type of card that can be equipped in the match lobby. Players may have three Active cards equipped when they enter a match.

  • Teleport Beacon
  • 240s Cooldown - Activate to place a Beacon down. A corresponding entrance Beacon will spawn in your spawn room and can be used by your teammates.
  • Rage
  • 90s Cooldown - Activate to gain +15% damage for 10s.
  • Anti Shields
  • 30s Cooldown - Activate to gain +75% damage against shields for 60s.
  • Deployable Destroyer
  • 45s Cooldown - Activate to gain +75% damage against Pets and Deployables for 60s.
  • Agility
  • 45s Cooldown - Activate to gain +40% movement speed for 8s.
  • Weaken
  • 90s Cooldown - Activate to gain a weapon buff for 30s that makes your weapon attacks apply a -75% Healing debuff for 2s.
  • Harden
  • 120s Cooldown - Activate to become immune to damage but unable to move for 2s.
  • Dexterity
  • 120s Cooldown - Gain +50% Reload Speed for 20s.
  • Tempo
  • 75s Cooldown - Reduce the Cooldown of all your abilities by 20% for 30s.

Shared

  • [Weapon] Your weapon attacks deal +15% more damage.
  • Removed from game.
  • Reduced from 100 → 50% bonus damage to Deployables and Pets.
  • Now increases maximum Health by +400.
  • Reduced healing from 25 → 20%.
  • Reduced from 100 → 50% bonus damage to Shields.

  • [Reversal] Reversal no longer has a damage limit, and deals an additional {8/16/24/32}% of the damage absorbed.
