The Card system in Paladins is one of the main features that sets the game apart from others in the genre. Cards offer players the ability to empower Champions' attributes and enhance or modify their skills, tailoring them to a particular playstyle. All cards are available to all Champions to use for free. Each Champion in the game has their own unique card collection that cannot be used by any other Champion. Also each Champion has three Talents, which influence the playstyle of Champions the most.
Players will have all cards available at rank 1 from the start, and each champion will come with 5 of them ranked up to rank 4. Cards can be ranked up by obtaining duplicates from Champion Chests and from Radiant Chests.

  +
Cards are equipped by Champions 5 at a time in sets called loadouts. Players can increase or decrease the strength of the cards in their loadouts to one of the 5 ranks, however loadouts have a fixed limit of 15 to the total card ranks.
Cards are organized by Rarity (<span style="color: #54c86d; font-weight: bold;">Common</span>, <span style="color: #429ef7; font-weight: bold;">Rare</span> and <span style="color: #d042fc; font-weight: bold;">Epic</span>), categorized by effected aspect (First skill, Second skill, Third skill and Armor/Weapon), and leveled by Rank (1 through 10). A card's Rarity determines the amount of duplicate cards required to reach higher ranks. A card's category clarifies which aspect of the champion is affected (e.g. Viktor's XL Mag card in the Armor/Weapon category increases his weapon's ammo count). A card's Rank signifies the strength of the effect.

Champions also have a special class of cards called <span style="color: #ffae21; font-weight: bold;">Legendary Cards</span>. Much like regular cards, all players start with one rank 4 Legendary card for each champion while the rest will be at rank 1. Instead of being drafted into loadouts, these cards are selected separately at the start of the match before the loadout selection. Legendary cards provide stronger effects than normal cards, with some of them causing radical changes to the way a champion's skills work at the cost of some counterbalancing penalty (e.g. Ying's Lifelike card causes her illusions to heal two targets at the same time, but restore less health).

Every Champion starts with three pre-made Default Loadout, which consists of 5 cards.

Players can create their own customized loadouts in addition to using the 3 Default Loadouts. Loadouts with fewer than 5 cards cannot be saved nor used in a match.

Players can create their own customized loadouts through the Loadout screen, which can be found in the Champion's profile, or through the Escape Screen in the Shooting Range. Players have can have a maximum of 5 custom loadouts per Champion. These loadouts must consist of 5 cards with a combined card rank of 15. The rank, which can be from 1 to 5, is displayed at the bottom left corner of the card.

Each card has 10 ranks, each one slightly stronger than the previous one. Level 1 of all cards (both basic and legendary) for all Champions are free and immediately unlocked to all players from the start. All new players have one starting set of cards at Level 4, and a Legendary also set to Level 4.

Players can upgrade their cards by obtaining card duplicates. Duplicates come from rolling Champion Chests on the Cards screen, which can be found in the champion's profile. Each champion chest roll costs 7500 Gold Gold or 11160 VIP VIP Points and will grant 4 random duplicates for that particular champion per roll. Players can also earn up to 5 free champion chest rolls a day by winning matches, the chest belonging to the champion that won the match.

The amount of duplicates required to rank up a card is different depending on the card's rarity and its current rank:

Cards Unlock

The Card system in Paladins is one of the main features that sets the game apart from others in the genre. Cards offer players the ability to empower Champions' attributes and enhance or modify their skills, tailoring them to a particular playstyle. All cards are available to all Champions to use for free. Each Champion in the game has their own unique card collection that cannot be used by any other Champion. Also each Champion has three Talents, which influence the playstyle of Champions the most.

Cards are equipped by Champions 5 at a time in sets called loadouts. Players can increase or decrease the strength of the cards in their loadouts to one of the 5 ranks, however loadouts have a fixed limit of 15 to the total card ranks.

Loadouts and deck building

Cards are equipped by Champions in sets called loadouts. A loadout is equipped at the start of a match and cannot be switched mid-game. However, if the round has not started, players can repick their loadouts by pressing the loadout key U (by default) while in the spawn room. Every Champion starts with three pre-made Default Loadout, which consists of 5 cards.

Loadouts cannot be saved if they don't meet the requirements. If an existing loadout stops meeting the requirements for any reason it will be disabled and won't be usable in matches until it is edited and corrected.
