Furia ▶️ is a Support Champion in Paladins, added on June 6th, 2018.
Lore[ | ]
This is Furia's official bio currently found in her champion page in-game.
Sarah prayed to the Eternal Pyre within the last Pyre Cathedral for the strength to fight the Abyss and to avenge her fallen sister Abby, cruelly sacrificed by the Magistrate due to town tradition to appease an Abyssal rift dwelling below.
Her prayers were answered. She was transformed into Furia: An avenging angel of cleansing flame — Pyre-incarnate. Now the former sisters stand opposed, each a vessel for otherworldly powers far beyond that of mere mortals, yet Furia still holds hope that her sibling isn't gone forever.
Now, she works with the Paladins to ensure the Realm survives to see her vengeance through.
This is an unofficial version of Furia's bio intended to more clearly present all currently known information regarding her. Sources can be found here.
Sarah once lived peacefully in the village of Seris alongside her sister, Abby; that is, until Corvus arrived, believing sacrificing an individual to the Abyssal portal present in the village would prevent any disasters from occurring. Sarah tried to fight the Magistrate, to prevent her sister from being taken, but a normal girl was no match for the Magistrate, and Abby was taken away.
With nothing left but a lock of Abby's hair, Sarah turned to the Eternal Pyre, where she prayed for the strength to fight the Abyss and prevent anyone from being lost to it again. As the village of Seris was destroyed, the Pyre answered her prayers, causing a Pyre Entity to merge with her, transforming the two into Furia, the Angel of Vengeance.
Furia would enter the Abyss and destroy the Abyssal Lord that had taken her sister; she'd also launch an attack against the Magistrate, causing much destruction and severely injuring many, most notably Octavia, before later joining the Resistance.
Following Yagorath's release, she would assist Atlas during one of his many battles against the beast, with her later fighting in another battle against Yagorath alongside Octavia in Crosswind Hold, before Azaan would arrive to defeat the monster.
According to Atlas, in the Lost Future, Furia would end up dying at some point.
This was Furia's in-game bio prior to the The Damned Frontier update. It's no longer considered canon.
Sarah prayed to the Eternal Pyre for the strength to fight the Abyss, to avenge her fallen sister. Her prayers were answered. She was saved from the Abyss, and transformed into Furia: An avenging angel of cleansing flame incarnate. Now the former sisters stand opposed, vessels of otherworldly powers far beyond that of mere mortals.
Summary[ | ]
Furia is an aggressive support who can provide more than just healing to her team. She brings high damage output and Crowd Control with her Pyre Strike. Her weapon, Pyre Blade, deals great damage up to medium range and has it's fire rate increased by healing allies. With Pyre Strike's stun, Furia can hold her own against flanks. Furia's ultimate, Inflame, gives herself and nearby allies increased movement speed and weapon damage that can make or break a team fight.

Trivia[ | ]
Lore
- Furia's attack on the Magistrate wasn't really due to them offering Abby to the Abyss, but more because Sarah believed the group to be the aggressors in the Crystal War.[2][3]
- Despite Furia being responsible for Octavia losing her leg, Octavia doesn't hold anything against her as she knows it wasn't personal; Octavia tries to focus on the greater good.[4]
- It's assumed Furia (and other characters not shown that are involved in the conflict) was present in Yagorath's trailer and assisted in fighting, but wasn't shown due to not being able to show every single character, instead focusing on including the ones they felt would say the most by their presence.[5]
- Furia keeps a locket with pictures of her and Abby on her weapon.[6] This can even be seen in-game during Furia's weapon inspect.[7]
- Sarah and Abby don't really exist anymore, with Furia being described as more of a "Sarah-flavored embodiment of fury", having some aspects of Sarah such as her personality among other things.[8]
- It was additionally mentioned that the two are considered new entities and not just the two being possessed by Pyre / Abyssal entities.[9]
- Azaan is more powerful than Furia and more or less serves as her boss.[10][11]
- The lock of Abby's hair is supposedly attached to Sarah using Pyre magic.[12] Despite this, Sarah can be seen with the hair already attached before entering the Pyre church in the Rise of Furia cinematic.[13]
- Based on a dev statement revealing Viktor to be around 5'9 or 175cm tall and comparing it to model sizes in-game and out of game, it was discovered that Furia would be around 5'6 or 168cm tall.
- In a conversation about the Pyre, it got stated that maybe Furia will cease to exist when she has nothing to be vengeful over. [14]
- In He Who Persists it got shown that Furia is under Azaan orders because Azaan gave her the body of Sarah which got exposed too that Furia is a mix of the pure concept of Vengeance and Sarah, creating Furia.

Promotion
- The various teasers used to promote Furia and the Rise of Furia event can be seen here:
- (Teaser 1) "All souls need a fire to warm them and light their way."
- (Teaser 2) "Welcome to the village of Seris -- a quaint town harboring an ancient, dark evil. Do you dare discover what lurks beyond the charming surface?"
- (Teaser 3) "Extreme measures must sometimes be taken to protect all citizens of the Realm from potential threats. The Magistrate thanks you for your understanding and sacrifice."
- (Teaser 4) "The most treasured heirlooms are memories of our family."
- (Teaser 5)
- (Teaser 6) "Two sisters, two fates, defined by the forces of darkness and light. The Pyre has taken form. Furia will have her righteous vengeance."
Concepts
- Early concepts of Furia can be seen here.
- Closer looks at many individual concepts for Furia and her weapon can also be seen here.[16]
- Concept art shows a sketch of an unused cart art featuring Furia flying above a group of people.[17]
Other
- An unused kill taunt against Seris (▶️) indicates her name was originally intended to be "Anna".[18]
- Furia is the first champion released after the game's official launch.
- Sarah and Abby are the first, and currently only, pair of playable siblings.
- Furia is Italian, Polish, Portuguese, and Spanish for fury.
- Furia's codename was "Angel".[19]
- Furia used to cost 60,000 Gold or 300 Crystals to unlock prior to being made free in the RWBY update.
- Furia originally had her thighs exposed, as can be seen here, however, it was changed after complaints were made that it didn't fit her character.[20] One developer later said they wished they hadn't changed it though.[21]
- Furia is one of the only characters to have appeared during an in-game cutscene. She shares this trait with Khan, Viktor (old appearance), and Abyssal Lord Drogoz.
- Some aspects of Furia's lore could be based on texts from the Bible, more specifically the Book of Revelations. After finishing the "Rise of Furia" event, a cutscene would play of Furia falling from the sky and subsequently "killing" The Abyssal Dragon. If we were to see the Pyre and Abyss as representations of Heaven and Hell, then the Dragon would be Lucifer, while Furia, being the "angel" that defeated him, would be Michael. This is all based on Revelation 20.1-3:
Champion Skins
- Iron Maiden
- This skin is likely named after a heavy metal band of the same name.
- Coldsnap
- This skin may possibly be named after a weather phenomenon known as a cold wave, also occasionally referred to as a cold snap.
- This skin appears in the Zephyr avatar.
- It also appears in the Festive Furia spray.
- This skin shares its theme with Coldsnap Strix.
- Aurora
- This skin is based on a powered-up version of Furia.[22] However, this skin may no longer be considered canon.[23]
- This skin is one of the few to have appeared in an official lore video; it shares this trait with Dragonborn Moji, Outlaw Sha Lin, Guild Skye, Seal Guardian Vora, and Honor Guard Vora.
- This skin had several splash art concepts prior to the final art being settled on.[24]
- This skin was part of the Dragon's Call event alongside Dragonborn Moji, Outlaw Sha Lin, and Overlord Khan.
- Battlesuit Angel
- This skin is a reference to Mecha anime, particularly Gundam.
- It's implied by the trailer for the Battle Suit Battle Pass, as well as the Protector spray, that this skin is intended to be Furia's default skin in a battle suit, however, this makes no sense due to the future setting, as well as the skin itself having a completely different history compared to the original Furia. (▶️)
- This skin appears in the Suit Up avatar.
- This skin appears in the Protector spray alongside Furia's default appearance.
- This skin shares its theme with Battlesuit Eagle Eye Kinessa, and Battlesuit Godslayer Androxus.
- Solfire / Dragonslayer
- The Solfire skin appears in the Death Card Forged Destiny.[25] It's one of the only skins to be featured on a Death Card, it shares this trait with Remix Pepper, Shore Patrol Fernando, and Pumpkin Patch Rei.
- The joke "*sigh* No matter how many I slay, they just keep reappearing! Unharmed somehow..." (▶️) is a nod to the in-game respawning.
- The other joke "I once hunted a wyrin that was able to fly by breathing fire out its back!" (▶️) is a reference to Drogoz.
- An early concept for the Solfire skin shows some minor differences, such as more standard energy wings in place of the final sword wings.[26]
- The Solfire skin appears in the Hunter's Fury avatar.
- It also appears in the Fierce Hunter spray.
- These skins shares their theme with Draconic Fighter Viktor, Hunter's Bane Viktor, Scalebane Strix, Dragonsbane Strix, Draconic Enforcer Khan, Ironscale Khan, and Draconian Huntress Ash.
- Soul-Stealer
- Abyssal Lord Drogoz appears in this skin's splash art.
- This skin appeared as part of the Why Not Both? spray prior to its reveal as a skin.
- This skin's name may be a reference to the similarly demonic Soul Eater Jenos limited skin.
- As can be seen here, when using the "Treats" emote, Furia will throw spiders instead of candy.
- A shadowy face reminiscent of Abyssal Lord Dredge appears in the sky when this skin uses Pyre Strike.
- This skin and its voice lines were present in-game for many months before finally being made available in-game, and was a concept even before that.
- An earlier concept for this skin's weapon originally featured less Abyssal energy visible, instead the blade was covered in spikes.[27]
- This skin shares its theme with Abyssal Lord Drogoz, Demonette Maeve, Temptress Skye, Devilish Skye, Doom Bringer Seris, Flame Bringer Seris, Wings of Darkness Saati, and Wings of Carnage Saati.
- Weiss Schnee
- This skin is part of the sixth set of crossover content alongside the rest of the RWBY Crossover Pass and skins, following Grover, Team Fortress 2 Barik, the Gen:LOCK Crossover Pass, Rambo Viktor, and the Monstercat Crossover Pass and skins.
- This skin shares its theme with Ruby Rose Vora, Blake Belladonna Saati, Yang Xio Long Imani, Salem Seris, and Qrow Branwen Corvus.
