Khan ▶️ is a Front Line Champion in Paladins, added on April 12th, 2018.
Lore[ | ]
This is Khan's official bio currently found in his champion page in-game.
When the Patriarch of House Aico issued the command to keep the House's banner upright for the longest amount of time, his captains — strong enough to toss lesser men across the battlefield — couldn't manage to last even a day.
The last captain to attempt was a young Khan, who only lasted hours before he began to tire. As his will faltered, he beckoned to a commoner and tasked her with taking up his place in holding it upright.
"Even though I must fall," he said, "the banner will remain."
Thus he passed the test, for this was no test of strength, but one of loyalty to House Aico. Khan proved himself worthy of command that day. Now, he serves as advisor and protector to Grand Magister Lian herself.
This is an unofficial version of Khan's bio intended to more clearly present all currently known information regarding him. Sources can be found here.
Once a normal captain for House Aico, after doing everything in his power to ensure House Aico's banner remained upright in a loyalty test disguised as one of strength, Khan's devotion paid off, and he was promoted to Primus of House Aico, Lian's personal advisor and protector.
When news that the self-proclaimed god, Jenos, had returned, Khan was tasked with recruiting him into House Aico's ranks. Though Jenos refused, Khan is not someone who takes "no" for an answer, leading to Siege of Ascension Peak, though unfortunately for Khan, the siege would end in failure.
Following this, when the Magistrate called on the royal houses to assist in defending the Realm from Yagorath, Khan was sent into battle alongside Rei, both to help fight the beast, as well as to retrieve a special codex from the Aico Library in Crosswind Hold.
After Yagorath had been defeated and leadership of the Magistrate was entrusted to House Aico, Khan naturally remained with the group and led the following parade through Crosswind Hold.
Following Lian bringing in the dying Corvus, Khan would remain by Lian's side, almost ending up in a fight with Lillith, whom Lian had called to help save Corvus.
This was Khan's in-game bio prior to the The Damned Frontier update. It's no longer considered canon.
The Patriarch of House Aico issued a challenge to his captains: hold the house's banner for as long as possible. Few were strong enough to last a day. The last captain to receive the test, a young man named Khan, held the banner for hours. As his arms tired, he beckoned to a common servant and asked her to take it from him, "Even though I must fall," he said, "the banner will remain." This was not test of strength, but one of loyalty to House Aico. Khan passed the test and proved himself worthy of command. Today, he serves Lian as advisor and protector.

Trivia[ | ]
Lore
- Khan and House Aico lost the battle at Siege of Ascension Peak.[1]
- Khan's current armor is the fourth or fifth version of it.[2]
- Khan leads multiple armies.[3]
- Despite Khan's joke about the ska'drin's lack of honor being very clearly racist, the developers claim he's not actually being racist, but simply referencing the fact the ska'drin are discriminated against.[4][5]
- Khan's a bit too obsessed with honor.[5]
- Khan prefers being up close and personal in combat.[6][7]
- If Khan were to ever be more clearly depicted outside his armor, he'd be asian. He also wouldn't be black.[8]
- Khan and Lian aren't siblings.[9]
- Based on a dev statement revealing Viktor to be around 5'9 or 175cm tall, and comparing it to model sizes in-game and out of game, it was discovered that Khan would be around 6'2 or 189cm tall, while adding his helmet brings Khan to around 7'1 or 216cm tall.

References
- The emote "Resistance is Futile" references Siege of Ascension Peak.
Concepts
- Khan had many unused designs prior to his final look being settled on, many of which can be viewed here.[11] Earlier concepts featured Khan with more standard proportions, as well as a stronger warrior theme and occasionally wielding a weapon such as a spear or seemingly a gun replacing one of his arms, similarly to Atlas. Most early concepts also feature some of Khan's skin visible, as well as his gauntlet being fitted with a chained hook, likely for pulling enemies towards himself with Overpower. The visible skin and hook would remain for many concepts, even being featured in Khan's design in the "A Realm Divided" cinematic, only being removed extremely late.
- There are a number of skin concepts for Khan that ultimately went unused; these include the Champion, Doomcaller, Druid, Royal Dragon, and Void Slayer skins.[12]
- As can be seen in these various concepts, Khan's codename was "Vanguard".
- Khan had another skin concept that made it much further along in development, that being the Cyber Samurai skin and a recolor. It ultimately had to be scrapped due to scope and scheduling issues.[13]
Other
- Khan was not initially able to move when using his ultimate, but when testing, he was accidentally not set to be rooted in place, and upon seeing this, the developers decided being able to move around while using Khan's ultimate was better.[14]
- Khan is one of the only characters to have an official Twitter account, sharing this trait with Jenos and Lian; all three of which were created as part of a promotion for Siege of Ascension Peak and Khan's own release.[6][7]
- When using the Orders emote, a hologram of Lian will appear. She'll exclaim "Lay down your life for me! Be ready to fight, and to die!" (▶️▶️), to which Khan responds with "For the house, I stand stalwart!" (▶️). This occurs with Khan's default, Royal Guard, and Mixer skins, though a hologram of Mixer's logo appears instead of Lian for the latter.
- Khan is tied with Jenos, Lian, and Strix as having received the most unique skins from Battle Passes.
- Khan used to cost 60,000 Gold or 300 Crystals to unlock prior to being made free in the RWBY update.
- Khan used to have a secondary idle animation that would occasionally play in the champion select screen and individual champion page. It was seemingly quietly removed in the Darkness and Dragons update. The original animation can be seen here.
- Khan is one of the only characters to have appeared in an in-game cutscene. He shares this trait with Furia, Viktor (old appearance), and Abyssal Lord Drogoz.
Champion Skins
- Royal Guard
- A royal guard is... well, a guard who protects royalty. Don't know what you were expecting honestly.
- Ameri-Khan
- This skin appears in a teaser for Lady Liberty Inara.
- The line "GET DOWN MR. PRESIDENT!" (▶️) is a reference to a meme involving someone leaping in front of another to protect them from an incoming bullet.
- The line "O SAY CAN YOU SEE!" (▶️) is a reference to the American national anthem, also known as The Star-Spangled Banner.
- When using the "Orders" emote with this skin, an Uncle Sam version of Viktor will appear in place of Lian. The voice line that plays also comes from the Code Green skins of Viktor's, with the line in question being "Fall in maggots! This here is a real man's war!" (▶️). In response, Khan will say "Ten foot four, gonna leave your butt sore!" (▶️)
- This skin shares its theme with Freegle Drogoz, Freedom Fighter Octavia, and Lady Liberty Inara.
- Overlord
- This skin is based on Khan as he appears in the past when his personality was cranked up to 11.[15] However, this skin may no longer be considered canon.[16]
- This is the only skin introduced during Dragon's Call that didn't appear in the Dark Tides lore cinematic.[17]
- This skin is one of the only ones to directly mention Karne by name twice (▶️ ▶️), as well twice by his title of Grand Magister (▶️ ▶️). It shares this trait with Corvus and Vora.
- This skin is also one of the only ones to directly mention Valera by name (▶️). It shares this trait with Vora.
- When using the "Orders" emote with this skin, Lian will appear as usual, however, Khan will say "I missed you. Did you miss me?" (▶️ ▶️), in which Lian will respond with "No!" (▶️), at which point Khan will begin sobbing (▶️).
- The line "Rebel scum!" (▶️) may be a reference to a scene from Star Wars Episode VI - Return of the Jedi.
- This skin was part of the Dragon's Call event alongside Dragonborn Moji, Outlaw Sha Lin, and Aurora Furia.
- Mixer
- This skin shares its voice pack with the Overlord skin, making it one of the only skins to share its voice pack with another non-recolor skin.
- This skin is a promotional item based on the now-defunct streaming service Mixer.
- When using the "Orders" emote with this skin, a Mixer symbol is displayed, however, Lian is still heard speaking. Khan will respond with the same line from his default voice pack, rather than a unique one from the Overlord pack.
- Safecracker / Saboteur
- These skins are known as 'Dynamite Dan'. It's also revealed he's wanted for safe-cracking, head-cracking, improper use of explosives, destruction of government property, destruction of government officials, and spitting on the sidewalk.[18]
- The line "It's quiet. Too quiet..." (▶️) is a direct reference to a trope of the same name.
- When using the "Orders" emote with these skin, Hustler or Swindler Strix will appear in place of Lian, saying "There really is no honor among thieves, is there?" (▶️), which Khan will respond with "I fight the law, and the law runs." (▶️)
- The Safecracker skin appears in the Bandit's Fury avatar.
- These skins share their theme with Hustler Strix, Swindler Strix, Bounty Hunter Lex, Headhunter Lex, Gunslinger Tyra, and Bandit Tyra.
- Draconic Enforcer / Ironscale
- When using the "Orders" emote with these skin, a draconic version of Lian appears.[19] Though Dark Monarch Lian's voice is used, with the line in question being a shortened version of her spawn chatter line with Terminus (▶️ "Well, look at you "big man"."), in response, Khan will answer with "I'm ready to teach the hard lessons!" (▶️).
- Early concepts for these skins can be seen here and here, with the latter showing an unused coloration for Ironscale Khan.[20]
- The Draconic Enforcer skin appears in the Brood-Guard avatar.
- These skins share their theme with Draconic Fighter Viktor, Hunter's Bane Viktor, Scalebane Strix, Dragonsbane Strix, Solfire Furia, Dragonslayer Furia, and Draconian Huntress Ash.
- Eternal Guardian / Dark Guardian
- The kill taunt against Viktor "You cannot run away from your fate, little cardio man!" (▶️) references a stereotype within Paladins of Viktor players choosing the Cardio talent, then running away the moment they take any form of damage.
- The line "You know not the true meaning of the Pyre. I was born in it, molded by it; I saw naught the denizens of the Realm hunt while I was already a Lord!" (▶️) is a reference to lines spoken by Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.
- The line "How much fire could a Pyre Lord fire if a Pyre Lord could spark fire?" (▶️) is a reference to the Woodchuck tongue-twister.
- The line ""Save us", they say, "Raum" this, "Raum" that; it's always "where are the Pyre Lords" and never "how are the Pyre Lords". (▶️) is a reference to a series of memes involving someone asking "where" or "who" something is, but never "how" they are. This line is also a reference to how many in the Paladins community have wondered why the Pyre had not appeared for a long time, despite their opposite, the Abyss, causing destruction.
- When using the "Orders" emote with these skins, Eternal Conflict Lian will appear saying "Our time on the battlefield is sacrosanct!" (▶️), which Khan will respond with "I am the purifying flame of the Pyre!" (▶️).
- The Eternal Guardian skin appears in the Penitence avatar.
- The Eternal Guardian skin also appears in the Ikonic Depiction and Pyre Lords sprays.
- These skins share their theme with Fallen Androxus, Archangel Tyra, Pyre Warrior Drogoz, Pyre-Lord Magnus, Eternal Retribution Koga, Dark Retribution Koga, Eternal Conflict Lian, Dark Conflict Lian, Eternal Fervor Jenos, and Dark Fervor Jenos.
- Justin OH / VIP Justin OH
- These skins are part of the fifth set of crossover content alongside the rest of the Monstercat Crossover Pass and skins, following Grover, Team Fortress 2 Barik, the Gen:LOCK Crossover Pass, and Rambo Viktor.
- As expected, many of these skins' lines reference Monstercat and Justin OH's various songs.
- The line "Whoa! Did you see that cat? It was a... monster. *laugh*" (▶️) is an obvious reference to Monstercat.
- The lines "Loving you, loving you." (▶️) and "Loving her, loving you." (▶️) reference the song Loving Her Loving U.
- The line "Don't bring me down." (▶️) references the song, Don't Bring Me Down.
- The lines "Kill switch: engaged." (▶️) and "Get the kill switch." (▶️) reference the song Killswitch.
- The lines "Make me feel alright, please." (▶️) and "Make me feel alright." (▶️) references the song Feel Alright.
- The line "*laugh* She's a killer!" (▶️) references the two She's a Killer songs.
- The lines "Remember this!" (▶️) and "Don't, lose, hope. Remember this." (▶️) reference the song Remember This.
- The line "Smile like we mean it. *grunt* For a minute..." (▶️) references the song For a Minute.
- Both of these skins have the word "Aico" etched into their weapons.[21][22]
- The Justin OH skin expectedly appears in the Justin OH Khan avatar.
- These skins shares their theme with WHIPPED CREAM Cassie, Bossfight Koga, GG Magree Skye, and VIP GG Magree Skye.
