Tiberius ▶️ is a Damage Champion in Paladins, added on January 8th, 2020.
Lore[ | ]
This is Tiberius' official bio currently found in his champion page in-game.
His is a tale of charm and daring — heroic feats backed by deadly prowess. A traveler of the Realm looking for worthy foes to test his mettle, sharpening his skills and weapons alike. Adored by the people, feared in battle — Tiberius, The Weapons-Master, knows no equal!
Born of the Tigron, Tiberius is the pinnacle of their values. A dashing legend — bold, brash, and relentless — anointed by an ancient blade, destined for battles that are nothing short of legendary.
With Chakrams, forged by the weapon-smiths of his ancestors; and a sword, forged from the heavens themselves — an ancient artifact capable of banishing unspeakable evils from this world — he is ready for any threat! Tiberius is exhilarated by the opportunity to match blades with a worthy foe. Snarling, he charges headlong into the fray, unleashing an unrelenting storm of steel, claw, and fang. En garde!
This is an unofficial version of Tiberius' bio intended to more clearly present all currently known information regarding him. Sources can be found here.
Having mastered the chakrams of his people when he was young, Tiberius stands as the pinnacle of tigron values. Adored by all and feared in battle, Tiberius journeyed through the Realm searching for foes to test his skills. Though he won every battle, he was also searching for something else; a legend of the sword that had no master. Eventually, he would find the blade in an ancient temple as it called out for a hero when the village of Seris was destroyed. Tiberius trained with the blade, it becoming something more than a weapon, but an ally.
When the Abyssal Lord Raum appeared in the Realm and began causing chaos, Tiberius stepped up to stop the beast. Using his sword of the heavens capable of banishing unspeakable evils, the two sides fought to a draw; Raum's rampage temporarily halted.
Summary[ | ]
Tiberius is a damage champion, with his chakrams he is a real treat indeed! He is best with a fast firing champion like Viktor or Raum next to him, because his fire rate is pretty slow, but combat trance lets him attack and move a lot faster. He is really flexible to your type of play style, because of his cards. His heavy blade is used best when a low health opponent is retreating behind a shield. Crouching Tigron lets him jump into or escape from a battle quickly. His Ultimate is something you will get used to, as it is really hard to know what to do the first few times you use it. Altogether, Tiberius is a great champion if used right, but you should use some other damage champ if you are the only damage champion.

Trivia[ | ]
Lore
- Tiberius is bisexual
- Tiberius' fight with Raum ended in a draw, with Tiberius having pushed Raum back and temporarily stopped his rampage.[1][2]
- Their battle occurred in early winter.[3]
- Tiberius' sword is a legendary blade that was forged an incredibly long time ago before slumbering for millennia in an ancient temple;[4][5][6] it eventually reawakened and called out for a hero as the village of Seris was destroyed.[7]
- The sword has also been implied to be sapient.[8]
- Tiberius had been searching for his sword for a long time.[4]
- Tiberius mastered his chakrams when he was young.[9]
- Tiberius, and tigrons, in general, have links to Ascension Peak and the Tau-Kor Monastery, though what exactly this entails was never elaborated on.[10]
- Tiberius was once described as being "vaguely aligned with the Resistance", though it was eventually clarified that Tiberius was more or less specifically battling Raum alongside the Resistance around the time of their battle, as Raum being summoned by Corvus had led to Raum being more associated with the Magistrate.[11]
- Maeve and Tiberius have no connection or relationship whatsoever aside from being part of the same species.[12] The card that shows them together is just Maeve unsuccessfully attempting to rob him, as well as where her affinity for knives began.[13]
- Based on a dev statement revealing Viktor to be around 5'9 or 175cm tall and comparing it to model sizes in-game and out of game, it was discovered that Tiberius would be around 6'4 or 195cm tall.

References
- The joke "Owo, what's zis?" (▶️) is a reference to a meme of the same name.
- The kill taunt against Io "It took you an eternity to make your tail look like that?!" (▶️) references Io's joke "Don't touch the t-tail it takes an eternity to get it looking this good." (▶️).
- The kill taunt against Willo "Oh, chérie, the voice! No." (▶️) references how many find Willo's voice incredibly annoying.
- The kill taunt and spawn chatter lines against Maeve (▶️ ▶️) reference her half-tigron heritage.
- The line "Tiger senses tingling..." (▶️) is a reference to Spider-Man.
- The line "Bonjour, oh-oh! Or, as you humans say e-e-ehem "Hi"." (▶️) features Tiberius speaking using the voice of the default announcer pack, which was removed in the same update Tiberius released, as all voice packs were made available for free.
Promotion
- Tiberius' teasers can be found here:
- (Teaser 1) "You've traveled the world in search of a worthy opponent. In search of a new weapon to master."
- (Teaser 2) "It started when you were just a kit. You mastered the chakrams of our people, but that only left you wanting more."
- (Teaser 3) "You fought -- and won -- in every arena, tavern, and back alley of the eastern Realm. And all the while, you chased a legend. A myth. The sword that had no master."
- (Teaser 4) "Forged in an age only dimly remembered, this weapon slumbered for millennia. Now, the blade has awoken. Do you dare to wield it?"
- (Teaser 5) "The sword calls to you. You answer back. This is no mere weapon. It is an ally."
- (Teaser 6) "Together, you are unstoppable."
- (Teaser 7) "The Realm is in chaos. The Abyss, unleashed. Perhaps you've finally found a worthy opponent."
Concepts
- An early brainstorming sketch for the initially planned new champion releases of 2019 both reveals that Tiberius was initially intended to release in 2019, and features an early version of him as well, featuring a notably different design.[14]
- According to AOC member Hyu, Tiberius was initially intended to be a Flank, but essentially had his role swapped with Vora, who was originally intended to be a Damage champion.[15]
- This was later officially confirmed by a developer.[16]
- Tiberius' splash art originally had several earlier unused concepts.[17][18]
Other
- Prior to lip syncing becoming more common from Octavia's teaser trailer onward, Tiberius was one of the only champions to ever speak with their mouth visibly moving. He shares this trait with Ash, Imani, Talus, and Vivian.[19]
- Raum's card, Desperation, features the word "tigron" written on one of the papers present, teasing Tiberius prior to his official reveal.[20]
- An alternate version of the artwork used for Bragging Rights was created by the artist for Christmas, with this variant adding holiday lights to the room and santa hats to some of the tigrons.[21][22]
- Extremely early programming tests of Tiberius prior to his art assets being created involved him using Buck's character model with Maeve's head.[23]
- Tiberius used to cost 60,000 Gold or 300 Crystals to unlock prior to being made free in the RWBY update.
Champion Skins
- Beast Slayer
- This skin likely references Tiberius' victory over a large beast similar to Moji's familiar in his card Beast-Slayer.
- Nightstalker
- This skin may be named after nocturnal animals that stalk their prey.
- Tomb Keeper / Sphinx Soldier
- The line "Owo, what's th--- Uuurgh... No, no. You know what? Hahaha. You, you aren't paying me enough to say this *bleep*." (▶️) references the OwO meme, however, in this instance, it also references how many people find this meme insufferable.
- The line "Mmm, Narcissus died, so I could take his place." (▶️) is a reference to the Greek hunter of the same name, who is known as the origin of the term 'narcissism'.
- Early concepts for the Tomb Keeper skin show some minor differences.[24]
- The Tomb Keeper skin appears in the Temple Guardian avatar.
- These skins share their theme with Crypt Guardian Raum, Undead Colossus Raum, Divine Daughter Ying, High Priestess Ying, Emerald Bandit Maeve, Temple Raider Maeve, and Dunestrider Kinessa.
- Lifeguard
- The line "They told me it couldn't be done, but, bro, I did it; conquered the greatest of all demons, the source of all evil! Water, will not take another one of my lives!" (▶️) reference both the myth that cats have nine lives and how cats are believed to be deathly afraid of water.
- One of this skin's laughs (▶️) may be a reference to a similar laugh from the Simpsons.
- This skin appears in the Summer Breeze avatar.
- This skin shares its theme with Longboard Lex, Sarrada Lex Sun Kissed Cassie, Copacabana Cassie, Shore Patrol Kinessa, Shore Patrol Koga, Shore Patrol Fernando, Shore Patrol Lian, Beachside Octavia, Freedom Fighter Octavia, and the Beach Bash variants of the Shore Patrol skins.
- Shore Patrol Fernando appears in this skin's teaser.
- Ripjaw and Great Orange Buck's teasers also appear in this skin's teaser.
- This skin's weapons share their theme with the REKT Weapons.
- Aka Oni / Aoi Oni
- The Aka Oni skin fittingly appears in the Oni Tiberius avatar.
- The Voracious loading frame also appears to be based on the skin.
- These skins had several concepts prior to the final design being decided.[25]
- These skins share their theme with Oni Talus, Soul Eater Jenos, Soulweaver Lian, Death Mage Lian, and Bloody Bakemono Koga.
